Counselling     $192.50.  We commence with a free half hour appointment (by phone/in-person) to ensure our services are the right fit. Then future appointments are $192.50 for one whole hour with your clinician.  Session notes are included in the price but are done after the session, technically meaning your $192.50 gives you 75 minutes of service - BUT we also will check in with you briefly, usually by email before each appointment, so your $192.50 fee offers so much more than most similar counselling services

Developmental Education Services     Generally prices vary due to the many services this covers.  For an hourly session it's a flat rate of $192.50.  For specific assessments please contact us for pricing at office@salusplus.com.au

NDIS     If you are self-managed or plan-managed and receiving approved services through NDIS, we can invoice you or your plan manager for payment.  Please contact us for pricing at office@salusplus.com.au

PRIVATE HEALTH    If you have Private Health cover under ahm,  BUPA, HCF, Medibank Private or one of the many providers under ARHG you may be able to pay for counselling services under your plan (please check with your provider.).  We do not yet have HICAPS ability, however, after paying us directly (see below) you should be able to claim your costs back by providing details on your receipt.  Clients advise payment reimbursement from their health provider is only a few days. Please check with your provider for more details.

MASTERCARD, VISA OR DIRECT DEPOSIT  You can pay with Mastercard and Visa at the time of your appointment, or you can pay Direct Deposit prior to attending your appointment and provide proof of payment.  You will be sent bank details upon request for Direct Deposit.

MENTAL HEALTH PLAN  Unfortunately, the Australian Government does not currently allow PACFA and ACA accredited allied health professional Counsellors to participate in the mental health plan (MHP) system, which means our clients pay the full fee rather than only out-of-pocket costs. However, we do feel we can offer a comparable counselling service without the use of the mental health plan.  While counselling psychologists (clinical or registered) offer up to 10 MHP sessions (6 + 4 more if approved), this is often not enough to meet long-term needs.  Clients will then face much higher fees to continue with the same psychologist who will charge their hourly rate* (see below), or the client will need to switch to a lower fee provider — an inconvenient disruption, especially after building a trusting relationship with their therapist.

At Salus +, we understand the importance of sustained, affordable support. We are happy to work with you to offer a comparable fee to MHP out-of-pocket costs based on the Australian Psychological Association’s (APA) recommended rate.

As a reference, the APA suggests an hourly rate of (NB: we believe this is correct at time of of publishing, but please do check) :

Clinical Psychologist = *$311 (^note session write up fees are either an additional cost or the one hour counselling session is reduced to 45-50 minutes to allow a 10-15 minute session note write up)

Registered Psychologist = *$280 (see above ^)

MHP Medicare Rebate (NB: we believe this is correct at time of of publishing, but please do check)

Clinical Psychologist = $136.35

Registered Psychologist = $92.90

MHP Out-of-Pocket Cost

Clinical Psychologist = $175.65

Registered Psychologist = $218.10

^Psychologists will either offer you a shortened session, usually around 45-50 minutes, and 10-15 minutes allowed for session notes, or you will have an hour's session and an additional fee for 10-15 minutes of session notes.  You may also find you are charged for one and a half hours for your intake session.

We do things differently at Salus +.  Firstly you will receive a FREE half hour initial consultation in person or over the phone to establish what supports you are seeking and, most importantly, if we are a good fit for you.  If we are right for you then we offer regular full hourly sessions (weekly, fortnightly or longer gaps to suit you), with no additional costs for session notes.  Additionally we can offer to check in with you briefly via email or text between sessions to follow up on our previous session and prepare for our next session. No extra charge for this service as it is included within your hourly fee.  If we are not the right service for you we would be happy to refer you to another local service.
